Vaastu Sastra

The basic identity of any civilization is the type of construction done during the period of that civilization. For example, Roman and Greek civilization are marked by the construction in that period, as in India the Aryan, Dravida and Mugal era are identified respectively by their constructional features during that period.

The constructional feature of a civilization illustrates the social class and living standards of the people, their town planning and management skills, culture , intelligence level, etc.

Consequently the present constructional and cultural features should be a landmark for the next generation to follow as an identity of our civilization. Thus for the construction which has to nurture many generations to come and stand the test of time and age, should be built on the foundation of "Vaastu Sastra" – the building Science, which helps in the construction of any type of buildings.

"Vaastu Sastra" provides the principles and rules, which are a guideline for the construction of any type of building (Temple, Residential, commercial etc.) which will provide all around prosperity and happiness to the inmates.

The common man's quest of having long life without any worries and with good health have inspired great scholars to research and write books on various fields like medicine, astrology, Silpasasthram, etc. In "Vaastu Sastra" (or science of hospitable land), "the Mayamatham" is the most famous book. The other books are - Thantrasamuchayam, Silparathnam, Vaasthuvidya and Manushyala Chandrika. The first two books deal with temple construction and the latter two deals with construction of houses (residential).

In Kerala, Thantrasamuchayam and Manushyala Chandrika are two widely used books as the guideline for construction of temple and houses respectively.
